The handover of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Agency) CSR healthcare protection for the DKI Jakarta PON Pelatda athletes

Jakarta National Sports Week (PON) Pelatda athletes who are being prepared for PON XXI/2024 Aceh - North Sumatra, receive health protection from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Agency)

This protection is in the form of medical treatment in the event of an injury to the athlete while undergoing training. They will be covered by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Agency) CSR funds with referrals to the EMC Pulomas Hospital and EMC Sentul Hospital.

The handover of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Agency) CSR from EMC Pulomas Hospital and EMC Sentul Hospital for the DKI Jakarta PON athlete protection took place in the KONI building located in DKI Jakarta, Friday (30/9/2022).

Present at the occasion was the Director of EMC Pulomas Hospital Dr. Julia Sutandar, Vice President of sales and marketing for EMC Group, Dave Tilaar, Head of Sales for EMC Pulomas Hospital Andrian Ronald Yudistira, Deputy Director of DKI Jakarta Regional for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Agency) Eko Nugriyanto, Zayn as Regional Director of DKI Jakarta BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Agency), and plenty of other officials.

Meanwhile from KONI DKI Jakarta side was attended directly by the General Chairperson Dr. Hidayat Humaid M.Pd, Deputy Chairperson II Gde Sardjana, Deputy Chairperson V Dr. Nur Ali, and some other administrators.

In his remarks, Hidayat said that athletes really need protection in their training activities. The reason is, the athlete is one of the public figures who can make the nation proud at the international level.

"We need to be aware that, there are only two events that can bring up the Indonesia flag abroad. The first main state activity is carried out by the president, and the second is an outstanding athlete performance who has won gold medals in various international events," said Hidayat.

Now, said Hidayat, with the guarantee from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Agency), athletes will be more comfortable during the training. They don't need to be afraid of injury because someone already takes care of them if they get injured during training.

"But I know BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Agency) certainly hopes that not many athletes get injured during practice, so there aren't too many claims for treatment costs," Hidayat continued with this joke and laughter by the audience.

While Eko Nugriyanto in his brief speech hoped that DKI Jakarta athletes would be able to excel in international events. Similar to Hidayat, he also doesn't expect that many athletes will get injured in training because it will interfere with the PON preparations.

“This is not because we don't want to pay a lot, but the less athlete gets injured the better it is. Therefore, we are here to provide protection for those who follow the Pelatda event," he said.

He explained that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Agency) is not insurance but social protection for employees. In this case, athletes are also considered workers in training.

"What we are doing is also in line with the Law of Indonesia " Undang Undang Nomor 11 Tahun 2021" concerning National Sports to provide protection to athletes," he concluded.
