In Commemoration of World Kidney Day and World Tuberculosis Day, EMC Sentul Hospital Holds Health Education and Breaking the Fast Together

BOGOR, MARCH 13, 2026 – Commemorating World Kidney Day and World Tuberculosis Day, EMC Sentul Hospital today held a Health Talk activity that presented health education from specialist doctors as well as breaking the fast together as a moment of togetherness between hospital management, medical personnel, patients, media partners and invited guests.

In accordance with its theme, this event presented expert speakers from two specialist fields, namely: Dr. Tessa Oktaramdani, Sp.PD, Subsp. GH (K), FINASIM (Internal Medicine Specialist - Kidney Hypertension Consultant) who discussed the importance of maintaining kidney health and early detection of chronic and acute kidney disease, then Dr. Herman, Sp.P, FISR (Lung and Respiratory Specialist) who provided education about tuberculosis (TB), including prevention efforts, early detection, and the importance of compliance with treatment.

In her remarks, the President Director of PT Unggul Pratama Medika and Director of EMC Sentul Hospital, Dr. GA Kusmiati, MARS, FISQua, stated that educational activities like this are part of the hospital's commitment to raising public awareness of chronic diseases that are still prevalent in Indonesia. "Even though kidney function is limited, life can still be quality. Tuberculosis? No need to worry, it can be treated and completely cured," she said.

He further said, "We hope this Health Talk event will provide a broader understanding to the public about the importance of preventing and early detection of kidney disease and tuberculosis. Through appropriate education and collective support, we can improve the quality of life for patients while encouraging the public to be more health conscious."

In her presentation in the first session, which discussed kidney health, Dr. Tessa Oktaramdani, Sp.PD, Subsp. GH (K), FINASIM emphasized that chronic kidney disease often does not show symptoms in the early stages. Many patients are only diagnosed when the condition has entered an advanced stage and requires kidney replacement therapy such as hemodialysis (HD), or what is more commonly known as dialysis. "Prevention is always better than cure. With the right information and a healthy lifestyle, we can reduce the risk of kidney disease," she emphasized.

Meanwhile, Dr. Herman, Sp.P, FISR, in his second session presentation, explained that tuberculosis remains a public health problem that requires serious attention. "Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that can be transmitted through the air. However, with early detection and regular treatment until complete, TB can actually be cured." He also added, "Educating the public is very important so that the stigma against TB patients is reduced and they are willing to undergo treatment diligently," he said.

Interestingly, the event also featured chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) at EMC Sentul Hospital, sharing their experiences and providing testimonials about their therapy journey and the importance of maintaining their quality of life. These experiences are expected to motivate and support other patients and raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining kidney health from an early age.

In addition to education and interactive discussions through questions and answers, this activity also serves as a forum for fostering friendship through a series of breaking the fast together attended by doctors, medical personnel, patients, media colleagues and invited guests.

Through this activity, EMC Sentul Hospital hopes that the public will increasingly understand the importance of prevention, early detection, and management of kidney disease and tuberculosis, so that the quality of public health can continue to improve.
