Stenosis is a condition when the space in the spine narrows so that it can put pressure on the nerves that travel through the spine. Spinal stenosis most often occurs in the lower back and neck. Based on the location of occurrence, stenosis can be divided into several types, namely:

  • Cervical stenosis: narrowing of the spine in the neck.
  • Lumbar stenosis: occurs in the spinal column in the lower back.

Spinal stenosis can be caused by several things, such as: osteophytes or bone spurs ; disc herniation ; ligament thickening; abnormal growths form within the spinal cord; and spinal injuries.
