Washing your hands, keeping your distance and wearing a mask is important important things that must be done during a pandemic to prevent transmission of the virus. This habit is also recommended when entering the new normal, however if you wash your hands too often it can cause the skin on your hands to become dry and sore when exposed to soap and hand sanitizer.
Water and soap not only remove dirt germs, but also oil and protective skin on the hands, so washing your hands too often can cause irritation, dry skin and chapped skin.
Here are some tips for dealing with dry hand skin:
- Wash your hands with cold water and do not use warm or hot water because it will reduce skin moisture, resulting in dry skin.
- Use soap with a balanced PH, so that the soap can clean the skin and maintain skin moisture.
- Dry it by patting it with a clean towel and don't rub it because it can cause skin irritation.
- Once dry, you can use hand cream to restore moisture to the skin. A good hand cream does not contain irritants, preferably oil-based.
- If irritation occurs, you should use an anti-allergic cream.
